A Look Back at 2011

Starmount's New OfficeNow that 2011 is behind us, I wanted to take a look back and share what a great year it has been for Starmount. We’ve grown in every way — our product set, the number of customers and partners we work with, and a move to a new office.

Over the past year, we released new versions of both our Engage and Impact products, and announced our new Connect product at the National Retail Federation Big Show in New York. If you haven’t heard the buzz, Connect is an open shopper engagement platform that empowers retailers to deliver a more personalized in-store shopping experience and increase in-store sales. For more information, take a look at the Connect section of our Web site, or read the press release.

Within our new walls, we have put an emphasis on company culture. By focusing on environment and making Starmount a great company to work for, we have seen a growing spirit and zeal that is quite exciting.

Our partner ecosystem has continued to grow through the last year, as has our customer base. One industry-leading customer, Urban Outfitters, has received a great deal of press this year as a result of their successful, chain-wide deployment of mobile selling technology. Their efforts to better reach their customers have been recognized with two awards for excellent cross-channel customer experience: an RIS Fusion award and a Retail TouchPoints award.  Our work with Pep Boys has led to a new system that allows customers to order tires online to have them installed in-store. We are proud to work with our customers, and look forward to bringing the industry more cutting-edge products that solve real world problems in 2012.

Bridging the Gap from Online to In-Store

I was discussing a quote from the CEO of Urban Outfitters with a group of retailers recently. At an event, Glen Senk remarked: “Just yesterday we were asking ourselves how to make our Web sites as good as our stores, and now we’re working hard to get parts of our stores’ experience as good as our Web site.” I realized that a simple analysis of his on-stage comments could teach ...

Optimizing the Shopping Experience

In my previous post, I mentioned how Starmount is focused on the shopper and how we work with retailers to help them deliver the best shopper experience possible. But what exactly makes for a good shopping experience? I think we can all come up with some criteria for what constitutes our ideal shopping experience, but when I went looking for a complete and all-encompassing ...

Our President and CTO, Jerry Rightmer, was published online this week in RIS News.
